The "drone rescue era" is expected to open as drones are put into lifesaving.
The National Fire Agency said it conducted an empirical evaluation of the △ fire extinguishing drone △ stretcher drone △ information collection device for firefighting and lifesaving of high-rise buildings and verified on-site adaptability and stability.
Under the current Aviation Safety Act, drones cannot fly without prior approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport when flying more than 150 meters.
However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has applied the regulatory sandbox system to the National Safety-related drone project and has formed a consortium with six companies, including Cheongju University's Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, since March to conduct research and development.
As a result of the verification, the fire extinguishing drone aimed exactly at the fire point of the high-rise building to extinguish the fire by releasing fire extinguishing agents, and the 2-meter stretcher drone took off from the ground, landed on the roof of the building, and transported the rescue target to a safe area.
In addition, it was confirmed that after transmitting two or more data to the information collection device at a distance of more than 30m from the underground building, it was normally transmitted and received data within 10 seconds.
The information collection device is expected to be installed in drones in the future, and it is expected to enable rapid search and rescue operations by transmitting and receiving real-time data on the scene of cramped spaces where people enter.
The safety improvement of the gas and the heat resistance and fire-extinguishing coal launch connection system are undergoing improvement research, and additional research on efficient cargo transfer using the effective load (60KG) of the stretcher drone will be conducted at the Central Fire School on October 6.
"The National Fire Agency has the most drones among governmental organizations in Korea, and we will do our best to protect people's lives and property by continuously discovering policies using ICT technology, the foundation of the fourth industrial revolution," said Cho Sun-ho, head of the equipment technology department at the National Fire Agency.
