The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will carry out five tasks of the "public data-based community issue resolution project" to solve various problems in life by using public data from local residents.

The five selected tasks were chosen through a four-week public offering ‘Living Lab Project Contest’ from July 11 to August 5.

A total of 11 tasks were submitted for the contest, and as a result of the review, five tasks were finally selected that can be used jointly as an example to solve pending issues in various communities and promote shared growth in the local and civil society based on civic participation.

The selected tasks will be provided with △ data utilization capacity-building training, △ problem-solving expert consulting, △ related service development and task operation support, and △ activity certificate, and the Minister of the Interior and Safety award will be given to the excellent tasks.

This public offering project will be carried out through "living experiments (Living Lab)" as public-private cooperation has become more critical in the digital field to implement the digital platform government.

"Living Lab" refers to activities in which citizens directly develop ideas to solve community problems using daily sites as laboratories and collaborate with experts and researchers in related fields to "realize" ideas.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will hold an expert forum event at Open Square-D (Seoul Startup Hub) at 13:00 on the 15th (Thursday) with the "Open Data Forum with Chairman Yoon Jong-soo."

This forum will be held in order to announce implementation plans by task ▲ announcement of successful life experiments (Living Lab) ▲ use cases and suggestions based on public data ▲ expert advice (consulting) by task.

Park Deok-soo, a public data policy officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "As citizens' participation and interest in solving problems by region increases, it is necessary to establish a public data provision and utilization system in which citizens directly participate." And said, "Through this project, various effects are expected such as revitalizing civic participation and innovation in the local community."
