The government will expand specialized universities and the Graduate School of Convergence Security to respond to environmental changes such as Metaverse

On the 13th, the government announced a plan to train 100,000 cybersecurity talent at the ‘11th Information Protection Day Ceremony’ held at Pangyo Corporate Support Hub.

△ Establishment of the best manpower training system in the whole cycle from cyber security development to response

In response to changes in the cyber environment such as cloud and virtual convergence economy, the Graduate School of Convergence Security and Information Security Specialized College will be expanded and reorganized to foster future talent.

Companies will lead the entire process of talent selection, practical education, and employment, and the government will strengthen on-site linkages by introducing a 'security academy' that supports businesses.

In addition, the 'S-Developer' course, which selects information technology (IT) development manpower and supports security education and start-up, will be newly established to foster top-notch development manpower.

In order to lower the barriers to entry for white hackers and provide a talent ladder to potential security talent, it is also decided to establish a ‘White Hat School’ course.

△ Establishing a global connection foundation with a regular training system to expand the base

It plans to expand the actual 'Security-Gym' so that anyone can easily receive security training, and develop field-based training scenarios and a multi-training platform that enables team-based training to respond to actual accidents.

In addition, in order to foster local security talents, the government plans to provide education with base universities (specialized universities, graduate schools of convergence security, etc.) centered on local education centers.

It is planning to promote 'K-Cyber Global Human Resources Network' that supports human resources development in developing countries and overseas expansion of domestic companies. In addition, as a follow-up to the Korea-U.S. summit, cyber manpower will be promoted overseas, such as manpower exchanges between US cyber security-related organizations and domestic breach response agencies (from '23).

△ Response to cyber warfare and crime through public, private, and military cooperation

Colleges, universities, and graduate schools in the field of cyber operations and investigation will be established and professional manpower will be trained.

It selects excellent manpower to work in the field of military cybersecurity, and then operates a private-military linkage program to support employment.

In addition, a local base cybersecurity education system will be established in connection with local universities to strengthen the capabilities of information security managers at national public institutions.

The government's policy reflects the industry's appeal that there is a shortage of talented people with specialized knowledge, such as the number of universities running cyber education courses decreasing from 69 in 2019 to 53 in 2020.

In particular, the need to strengthen cyber manpower training in the defense, security, and public sectors through cooperation between the public, military, police, and private sector is increasing in response to the request for a specialized manpower training system for the development of security products and services, the demand for integrated security personnel who understand IT, such as smart factories and autonomous vehicles and industries, cyber warfare, and cybercrime.
