The Busan Metropolitan City announced that it will invest 10 billion won to foster high-quality human resources in the smart manufacturing sector.
On May 30, the Busan Metropolitan Government was selected for the "Smart Manufacturing High-Quality Human Resources Training Project," a public offering project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and secured 8 billion won in state funds.
The "Smart Manufacturing Advanced Human Resources Training Project" is organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supported by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. It is to establish practical infrastructure for each specialized industry of Smart Green Industrial Complex, strengthen the capabilities of existing employees, and support the training of local talent to cultivate high-quality smart manufacturing personnel.
Since last year, Busan has been selected for this public offering project by planning a step-by-step curriculum in four areas, including BIUCA, Korea Maritime University, Silla University, Donga University, and Busan University of Science and Technology, as well as ▲the transition of job seekers, ▲education for strengthening the capacity of employees, ▲development of a ‘degree’ course, and ▲development of local specialized high school-linked education.
By next year, the city plans to invest a total of 10 billion won, including 8 billion won in state funds, 800 million won in municipal funds, and 1 billion won in private funds, to innovate manufacturing and create new jobs through smartization of ▲ shipbuilding equipment, ▲ auto parts, and ▲ intelligent machinery industries.
A total of 4.1 billion won will be invested, including an investment of 3.3 billion won in government expenditure in building a cloud-type education platform to foster high-end smart manufacturing workers in three areas, including shipbuilding equipment, auto parts, and intelligent mechanical parts, which are key industries of the Smart Green Industrial Complex.
The cloud-type education platform plans to build educational facilities at the BIUCA (main platform) and Korea Maritime University, Dong-A University, Silla University, and Busan National University of Science and Technology (linked platform) respectively, and use them in the cloud.
The BIUCA plans to build metal 3D printers and design equipment at four educational centers, install software such as design and structure analysis, and △ Korea Maritime University will create an infrastructure to freely use equipment and software needed for education.
In addition, it plans to invest 2 billion won to develop and operate a curriculum tailored to demand by specialized fields to realize smart manufacturing in the industrial sector.
The customized curriculum is largely divided into the △ job competency improvement curriculum (300 students per year) and the △new recruitment training curriculum (250 students per year), which is a curriculum for university graduates.
The industry-university cooperation project, it will support corporate growth and establish a local employment system for local talent.
The industry-university cooperation project is to serve as a focal point for promoting the development of local companies and creating new technologies. It is expected that talented people from local universities and companies will form joint projects to solve corporate technology problems.
Through this project, the Busan Metropolitan Government plans to minimize the risk of local strategic industries due to industrial transformation and job transition and to grow companies, and strengthen the capabilities of existing workers. As a result, it will be able to create a foundation for stable jobs to continue and create jobs through cooperation with local universities.
