- Seoul City reorganized and reopened a New ‘Our Village Store Commercial District Analysis Service' - The service provides useful information on emerging commercial areas in Seoul based on big data analysis such as the number of stores, sales, and changes in the floating population

The Seoul Metropolitan Government(SMG) and the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation have reorganized the " Our Village Store Commercial District Analysis Service " so that citizens preparing to start a business and the existing small business owners can easily find accurate and useful big data-based information.

The "Seoul Our Village Store Commercial District Analysis Service" analyzes a total of 45 types of big data related to small business owners and provides various management information such as △ survival rate by district and commercial district, △ average sales, and △ rental price for free.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government developed the service in 2016 and it has been operated by the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation since 2017

The upgrading project of the "Our Village Store Commercial District Analysis Service" was carried out with a significant focus on improving information accessibility for small business operators as well as citizens who are interested in commercial districts and start-ups.

The user interface (UI) has been improved and the process of use has been greatly simplified, and intuitive names such as △'Open Commercial District', △'I'm CEO, and △'I will be CEO soon' have been applied to increase the readability of analysis reports for all citizens.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government has changed the criteria for commercial district analysis to provide more accurate commercial district information.

The commercial district analysis area, which was previously divided by drawing concentric circles based on straight streets (e.g., a radius of 300m), was divided into areas that can be reached by walking for a certain period of time so that the characteristics of commercial areas formed along the actual alleyways were fully reflected.

The pedestrian area-based commercial district analysis service was introduced for the first time in the country, and it is noteworthy that it is an original function that cannot be found in other public commercial district analysis services.

For citizens who dream of starting a business, the service recommends promising industries and regions through ▲the new service 'I will be a CEO soon' and provide a commercial analysis report with detailed information for start-ups such as the number of stores, sales, and floating population.

It provides a recently-emerging business search function to prospective start-ups who have not yet decided the type of business and provides customized reports based on the location, business, and analysis area of the planned store.

At the same time, the ▲ 'Rising Commercial District' function was also newly established to combine various big data and show the recently emerging commercial districts at a glance on a map.

When a user searches for "rising commercial districts" under the condition of changes in the number of stores, sales, and floating population, he/she visualizes promising commercial districts by type, such as recently emerging neighborhoods (administrative districts) and developmental commercial districts, and traditional commercial districts, using related big data.

In addition, when you click on a rising neighborhood and a promising commercial district, the business type, sales, population, and hinterland of the commercial district are analyzed in detail, and reports are provided in various graphs and tables.

It provides additional analysis on existing small business operators. ▲ Through the "I am a CEO" function, it carefully analyzes and provides changes in the number of stores in the same industry, sales, floating population changes, and hinterland, focusing on stores operated by small business owners.

Moreover, by introducing the ▲ 'Self-diagnosis' function, small business owners can directly enter their own store's sales, rent, number of employees, and business hours to diagnose their own management status by comparing the current status of similar companies in Seoul.

The "self-diagnosis" function is currently provided in the beta version and it will be possible to enable small business owners to prepare for the future business environment from 2023, by introducing AI functions based on future prediction algorithms for floating populations.

“As a small business support organization, we need to provide information that is actually helpful to citizens by utilizing big data and know-how accumulated in the past,” said Cho Chul-soo, chairman of the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation. “We expect that the information provided by our village store commercial district analysis service will help the pre-founders make reasonable decisions and contribute to the competitiveness of small business owners who are suffering from difficulties caused by COVID19.”
