SK Telecom has decided to support small and medium-sized companies to build a smart factory and started supporting the health functional food company Naturetech to build a factory.
SK Telecom (CEO Park, Jung-Ho) signed a business agreement with Value Companion (CEO Moon, Jae- Chang) and Bosch Rexroth Korea (CEO Kim, Shin) to establish a one-stop support system for smart factories based on IT solutions and consulting to create substantial effects such as improving the profits of companies.
The three companies are going to provide one-stop support to establish a smart factory for Naturetech, a health functional food company. Naturetech needs to improve quality and productivity through △ real-time data collection for health functional food production processes, △ prevention of poor quality through automatic control, and △ optimal working conditions by big data analysis and machine learning.
Naturetech, which started in 1976 as Namyang Aloe, is a specialized manufacturer of natural materials and healthy functional foods. It is the first dry-type manufacturer to introduce a smart factory system in 2019 and even introduced an automatic control system for production facilities through the second phase of smart factory advancement.
In order to build a smart factory for Naturetech, the three companies will share and utilize solutions and keys to support the construction of smart factories that each company has.
SKT decided to provide its big data analysis solution 'Metatron Discovery' and cloud analysis environment. The solution stores real-time production information collected from each production process and implements a machine learning model based on the association analysis of production information with defect information in the inspection process. It will also be installed on 'Metatron' and visualize the results of machine learning models to provide Smart Factory to companies that have established Smart Factory.
Value Companion plans to verify consulting and improvement effects related to quality and productivity improvement of manufacturing sites, analyze process quality in the production process, define analysis tasks, and design machine learning models to help build an optimal smart factory. Bosch Rexroth supports IoT gateway and data transmission of manufacturing facilities.
Through the cooperation of the three companies, firms that want to build smart factories can receive systematic services that fit their needs, from analysis of manufacturing status to optimal hardware and solution support, and verification of improvement effects in one stop.
The three companies plan to actively cooperate to build smart factories for small and medium-sized companies.
Small and medium-sized companies are burdened with facility investment costs, and due to changes in the social environment such as minimum wage hikes and shorter working hours, they are burdened with hiring additional workers for smart plant operations.
The three companies will continuously develop and spread various cooperative models to meet the company's system-based operating needs and improve corporate profits due to changes in the social environment.
"We are encouraged to build smart factories through a team that specializes in IT solutions and consulting. SKT will make efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean manufacturers by dramatically reducing trial and error in the process of introducing smart factories through 5G, AI, and big data technologies," said Choi Nak-hoon, head of SK Telecom's Smart Factory Co.
