GS Retail announced that it will introduce and operate foreign currency exchange kiosks sequentially at 10 stores of GS25 and GS THE FRESH in areas where domestic and foreign tourists flock, including Gimpo Airport, Yeongdeungpo, and Dongdaemun, from January 3rd.
The company explained that it has promoted the introduction of foreign currency exchange kiosks to strengthen financial services such as convenience stores, a short-range distribution platform, and demand for currency exchange by domestic and foreign tourists after the end of the company explained.
The foreign currency exchange kiosk to be introduced this time was developed by OODDY, which operates the integrated foreign currency management service "BUDDYCASH."
Through the foreign currency exchange kiosk, both services for exchanging foreign currency into won and services for exchanging won into foreign currency are available. Foreign currency from a total of 15 countries, including the dollar, yen, euro, and yuan, can be converted into won. The won can be exchanged into four currencies: the dollar, the yen, the euro, and the yuan.
Especially, foreign currency coins from Southeast Asia and other countries, which are difficult to exchange at ordinary banks, can be converted into GS points. The converted points can be used to purchase GS25 products.
Exchange rate information can be checked in real-time through the foreign currency exchange kiosk screen. Exchange rate information is automatically changed every hour in conjunction with information from a representative bank in the market. Customers can also enjoy preferential exchange rates (up to 50% to 20%) if they apply for a reservation exchange service through the BUDDYCASH app before using the foreign currency exchange kiosk. GS Retail plans to continue to expand preferential exchange rate benefits in line with the trend of expanding overseas travel.
GS Retail expects that the foreign currency exchange kiosk introduced this time will be particularly popular among domestic and foreign customers who need to exchange foreign currency and won, and customers who have the remaining foreign currency after traveling.
Earlier, GS Retail joined hands with Shinhan Bank to open financial innovation stores in GS25 and GS THE FRESH in Seoul, Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, and Daegu.
It provides fee waiver services to customers of 11 commercial banks and securities firms through 12,000 ATMs at GS25 stores nationwide.
In addition, the U.S. currency payment services (Tax Replication services) services that can be used in GS25 to return services and foreign tourists.
