As AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology is introduced into safety management at construction sites, safety accidents at sites are expected to decrease. Hyundai E&C announced that it is speeding up smart construction management by developing AI (Artificial Intelligence) based construction site image analysis technology and registering patents.
In general, image analysis AI applied to construction sites has been developed by entrusting AI-specialized companies with collecting video data to learn and develop artificial intelligence, but AI-specialized companies have limitations in that it is difficult to understand the specificity of construction sites. Since it is difficult to access image data in the actual field, public data that can be easily obtained has been used.
Due to this reason, it was easy to apply to industrial fields with fixed working environments, but it has been difficult to apply to construction sites where the working environment changes depending on the progress of the construction. In the safety sector, where there are not many cases, it was not even easy, so there was no attempt.
In order to solve these difficulties, Hyundai E&C developed a 'field CCTV image analysis system' that built artificial intelligence learning data specialized in the construction industry through various video data at its construction site. Hyundai E&C collected videos from various sites constructed by Hyundai E&C to develop a "field CCTV image analysis system" and selected data and scenarios that can reflect the reality of safety management at construction sites.
Data and scenarios to be detected for site safety management were selected based on construction safety-related laws and standards, and virtual data such as 3D graphics were used for fire images at construction sites, which are difficult to obtain.
Based on this, learning data including more than 2 million working objects such as construction equipment, workers, fireworks, and smoke were built, and a 'field CCTV image analysis system was developed by combining them with the technology of artificial intelligence companies.
The system developed by Hyundai E&C is a technology in that AI detects the location of workers, construction equipment, and fire risk factors in real-time and prevents risks in advance.
AI analyzes images transmitted through CCTV in real-time and simultaneously recognizes construction equipment, signal numbers, and guidance sources to detect the risk distance of stenosis accidents with equipment and prevent them in advance.
Due to the nature of the construction site, sparks are frequently generated by welding, dramatically reducing the probability of incorrect detection by accurately detecting sparks by welding and providing an alarm when there is a risk of fire to ensure workers' safety.
Based on the posture estimation algorithm, it is possible to automatically detect movements such as workers' heads, hands, and necks, and recognize dangerous activities to manage safety in the workplace.
Hyundai E&C recently completed performance verification that applies and controls recently developed AI models by remotely connecting CCTV images. In the future, the effectiveness of various field use scenarios will be supplemented and applied to domestic sites.
Hyundai E&C has registered a patent for the first time in Korea by devising a "real-time monitoring system for ready-mixed concrete quality" that can secure the quality and safety of ready-mixed concrete using a smartphone. It is also taking the lead in field quality management using AI by developing commercialization systems in cooperation with IT companies.
