Hyundai WIA is entering the intelligent robot market, unveiling cooperative robots and autonomous mobile logistics robots.

Hyundai WIA unveiled smart manufacturing and logistics robots such as cooperative robots and autonomous mobile logistics robots (AMR) for the first time at the production and manufacturing technology exhibition "SIMTOS 2022", which is being held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

In addition to robots, Hyundai WIA presented a total of 22 machine tools, including machining centers and shelves.

"SIMTOS 2022" is Korea's largest exhibition of production and manufacturing technologies involving 850 companies from 29 countries and will be held until the 27th.

The robots unveiled by Hyundai WIA at the exhibition include cooperative robots, autonomous mobile logistics robots, and manufacturing and logistics convergence mobile robots.

Hyundai WIA first introduced two types of cooperative robots that have a maximum weight of 1kg and 10kg, respectively.

A cooperative robot is a multi-joint robot that can help workers or work together without a safety net at a manufacturing site. It is mainly used in situations such as placing heavy work that cannot be carried by humans in machine tools or making mold products.

Hyundai WIA's cooperative robot is characterized by minimizing the weight of the main body and greatly expanding the working radius to 1300mm. In addition, a new collision detection sensor has been developed so that workers can work safely under any circumstances.

Hyundai WIA also introduced logistics robots based on autonomous mobile technology.

The autonomous mobile logistics robot unveiled this time has a maximum loading load of 1,000kg and 300kg, respectively.

The robot uses autonomous mobile technology to transport logistics by driving inside the workplace without a separate guide. The work is carried out through an integrated control system for logistics robots.

They can map the workplace in real-time and work while avoiding collisions using LiDAR sensors and 3D cameras. In addition, the optimal driving route according to the surrounding environment is automatically set to support smooth logistics.

Moreover, Hyundai WIA unveiled a 'manufacturing and logistics convergence mobile robot' that moves on its own, transfers and assembles parts.

The robot is a combination of two cooperative robots with a portable load of 15kg and a logistics robot. Hyundai Wia has made a mobile robot so that it can move itself to the place where the work is located and brings the parts, automatically performs the entire assembly work, and performs the work of assembling products by fastening various tools to the cooperative robot.

Hyundai WIA introduced a "mobile robot smart integrated control" system so that cooperative and logistics robots can work smoothly at production sites as well.

It is a system that enables logistics robots to move accurately based on pre-populated production plans.

Hyundai WIA has implemented a system so that robots can accurately carry work according to logistics priorities and do not collide with each other even when several robots move at the same time. In addition, workers can check the situation of all robots in real-time through 2D animation.

In addition, the company presented a number of high-performance machine tools that can be used in industries such as eco-friendly vehicle parts, semiconductors, and aviation.

It exhibited various machine tools such as KF5200D, which can make covers for electric vehicle motors, KF5600II, which can process semiconductor wafer fixtures, and XF2000, which can process complex impellers.

Hyundai WIA plans to supply 'smart manufacturing solutions' using intelligent robots and machine tools such as cooperative robots and autonomous driving logistics robots.

An official from Hyundai WIA said, "We are happy to enter the smart manufacturing and logistics robot market based on long-established manufacturing technology" and, "We will continue to make efforts to lead innovation in manufacturing sites through cooperative robots and autonomous mobile logistics robots."
