-The Ministry of the Interior and Safety(MOIS) will hold a "pan-government data analysis council" -Seventeen ministries will build a cooperative system for data analysis

‘Smart Government Administration’ will be carried out through the establishment of a pan-government data analysis system. Related ministries will join this for major government project and pending issues.

MOIS(Minister Jeon Hae-cheol) announced on March 25, that "Pan-Government Data Analysis Council" with related ministries will be launched to carry out full scale data analysis work.

MOIS established an "Integrated Data Analysis Center" in December 2021 to support data analysis at the entire government level in accordance with the "Act on Data-Based Administration Act.

This council was organized to discuss an cooperation systems for seeking and specifying data analysis tasks at the national level and utilizing analysis results, through the newly established "Integrated Data Analysis Center."

Participating organizations in the council are as follows; the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Statistics Korea, the National Tax Service and the Korea Meteorological Administration.

In particular, based on the analysis of national demand, some issues will be discussed in detail. Such as implementing national tasks of finding welfare blind spots, predicting crisis for small business owners, and detecting abnormal patterns to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will be covered.

Previously, data analysis was conducted according to the demand of each institution, and data used was limited. In addition, it was difficult to share the contents of the task, analysis method, and results.

It is expected that the pan-government data analysis council will lay the foundation for data sharing, immediate data analysis support through integrated data analysis centers, and the spread of data-based administration.

Han Chang-seop, head of the Government Innovation Planning at the MOIS said, " In order to strengthen and unite the government's data analysis capabilities, it is necessary to establish a government-wide data analysis system. We will strengthen cooperation among data-related organizations and make efforts to actively support all ministries."
