The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected 10 regions, including Incheon and Jeju, to provide a total of 5 billion won for a year

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Noh, Hyung-wook) and the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (President Kim, Jung-ryul) announced that they have selected a total of 10 regions, including Incheon Metropolitan City and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, as targets for the digital twin land pilot project.

The pilot project, which will be launched for the first time this year with the announcement of the Korean version of the New Deal, selected five local governments, including Incheon, Jeju Island, Jangseong of South Jeolla Province, Asan of South Chungcheong Province, Uljin of North Gyeongsang Province as the base construction projects, and five local governments including Namhae of South Gyeongsang Province, Jincheon of North Chungcheong Province, Goseong of South Jeolla Province, Gijang in Busan and Wanju of North Jeolla Province were selected as the target areas for balanced development projects.

'Digital Twin Land' is a national location-based platform for intelligent management of the land and the customized problem-solving of people's lives by implementing the same virtual world as the Korean version of the New Deal in three dimensions.

This project is divided into "base construction project" which is a state subsidy project for entire local governments, and "balanced development project" which is carried out as a budget project of Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation so that it can be supported only in the military area to minimize the burden of military local governments.

A total of 44 business plans (29 infrastructure construction and 15 balanced development) were received during the one-month public offering period from the end of June.

The selected local governments will receive financial support worth 5 billion won (300 to 700 million won per local government) over the next year.

Along with financial support, the selected local governments will receive administrative and technical support from the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, a pilot project management agency, and expert consulting services from advisory committees composed of experts in each field.

In addition, a digital twin-based virtual space will be established at the selected sites, and a customized solution model will be demonstrated to solve various urban and social problems according to local needs.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to link the results of the pilot project, which will be implemented by each local government, with the digital twin national land integration platform established by the state in the future so that other local governments can utilize the services.
