Ministry of Science and ICT(MSIT) (Minister Lim, Hye-sook) held a win-win agreement in the metaverse on the 6th to promote ‘data implementation project’ for artificial intelligence learning, which is a key task of 'data dam', and to cooperate for growth and development of participants such as crowd workers.

At the agreement ceremony, about 500 people, including members of three crowdsourcing organizations and officials from six representative companies including Naver, SK, and KT Alpha. Cho Kyung-sik, Vice Minister of MIST, and Moon Yong-sik, director of National Information Society Agency, also entered the metaverse and signed online for a win-win agreement.

Crowdsourcing is a method that allows anyone to easily participate in data collection, purification, processing, and inspection through online platforms anytime, anywhere, and crowd worker refers to a person who participates in this type of work.

The AI learning data construction project is a large-scale project to build and open artificial intelligence learning data, which is essential for developing artificial intelligence services, and last year, 3.1 million crowd workers participated in the project to build 170 data and more than 12,000 downloads have been recorded since June of this year.

MSIT plans to carry out the project together with a total of 545 companies and institutions to establish additional 190 types of data by this year.

The win-win agreement was signed between the MSIT, the National Information Society Agency, 296 agencies, 249 crowdsourcing participating agencies, and crowd workers. The goal is to △build high-quality data, △create quality jobs, △support the growth and development of crowd workers, and △ provide various education and training opportunities.

At the agreement ceremony, crowdsourcing organizations such as Naver and SK, which play a key role in job creation, promised to actively cooperate to provide reasonable treatment and support growth for crowd workers who are in charge of collecting and processing various data.

The participants decided to provide many job opportunities to the public who are suffering from economic difficulties due to coronavirus such as career interrupted women and employment-prepared youth in crowdsourcing, and to provide proper remuneration and growth opportunities to improve the treatment of crowd workers.

Meanwhile, MIST announced that it will boost capacity empowerment training for artificial intelligence learning personnel to foster the professionalism of crowd workers from August, and Crowdsourcing participating organizations also presented plans to support crowd workers' growth by running their own education programs.

"The data dam that our companies and people fill together will be the cornerstone for the development of our artificial intelligence industry. The government will also pay attention and actively support the win-win agreement ceremony so that everyone who participates in the project can be provided with a reasonable remuneration and opportunity to develop their capabilities with pride as the main driver of digital transformation," said Cho Kyung-sik, Vice Minister of MIST.

In the meantime, 190 new types of artificial intelligence learning data will be completed by the end of the year and released in early 2022 after quality verification.
