The 1st Sejong Smart City Forum is held

Sejong Metropolitan Autonomous City will hold ‘2021 Sejong Smart City International Forum’ from April 27th to 29th, under the theme of ‘Smart City, SEJONG answers’.

In Sejong, Korea, world-renowned scholars will discuss the future of the smart city. Jeong Jae Seung, who is a KAIST professor and famous for ‘Encyclopedia of Useless Facts’, the world’s best futurologist Jason Schenker, and Fernando Vilarino, who is the president of ENoLL will participate in the declaration.

For this international forum, six key words starting with S·E·J·O·N·G. are introduced.

S stands for Sustainable and Safe city, and E Eco-green and Energy-efficient city. J means Joint venture and Joining governance, O for Open data platform and On-demand Service, and N for New deal for post corona and Non-contact city life. Finally, G stands for Global cooperation and glocal development.

On the first day or April 27th, Jason Scheker, who is the author of ‘the future after COVID’ and the president of Economics and Jeong Jae Seung, who is the executive planner of Sejong smart city and KAIST professor will join as keynote speakers.

After the keynote speech, Lee Choon Hee, who is the mayor of the Sejong City and the keynote speakers will conduct the online discussion under the theme of ‘Response strategy of Sejong Smart City in Post COVID-19’.

In each session, more than 50 experts, including central ministries and state-run research institutes such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the National Agency of Administrative City Construction, universities, international organization, international cities and people in domestic and foreign companies will participate to share smart city progress result and best practices.

In particular, at the closing ceremony, the world’s first ‘SEJONG Declaration on Smart City’, which presents the vision and philosophical principles of smart city to the international society at the city level, will be declared.

‘Smart Mobility Seminar’ will be held by Sejong Techno Park on the 29th to discuss the achievements of Sejong's self-driving demonstration regulatory free zone and ways for early commercialization of self-driving cars.

"Smart City is a city that uses advanced information and communication technology to discover and solve the city's problems," Sejong Mayor Lee Choon Hee said. "This forum will serve an opportunity to understand the concept of smart city more easily and clearly."

This international forum which is hosted by Sejong City and LH, and organized by Sejong Techno Park, will be broadcasted online through YouTube and the official  website considering COVID-19.
