Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Choi Min-ho), a national demonstration project for smart cities, is becoming an example of a "smart city where every citizen participates together." The city announced that it has signed a business agreement with five public and private institutions to cooperate with each other to revitalize the operation of smart services in Sejong City such as Sejong City App and Smart Health service.

Sejong Smart City Service is the "Sejong 5-1 Smart City National Demonstration City Government Consignment Agreement Project," which will establish public sector innovation services first before private services and spread smart city services through demonstration.

Sejong City has been gradually pursuing projects with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) since 2020, and public and private institutions are currently participating in the second phase which pursues the advancement of the project.

There are five public and private institutions that participated in the agreement: ▲ National Sejong Library ▲ National Sejong Arboretum ▲ Bear Tree Park, an agricultural corporation, ▲KOSPO ▲ Sejong Social Welfare Community Chest of Korea.

With this business agreement, the city will be in charge of overall management, including support for smart service linkage, and participating institutions will be in charge of service linkage and activation.

In particular, by introducing a new blockchain distributed identification (DID)-based "identification service" to the "Sejong City App," a citizen-participating trader (platform), it can be used instead of the existing real card as a certification to be integrated with a mobile membership card.

Subject to the application is Sejong National Library, Sejong Arboretum, facility management corporation camping site, and Bear Tree Park.

The New Sejong construction management part of Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. will set up a "Smart Health Zone" to contribute to the promotion of welfare such as health care of employees through the "Smart Health App" and service connection.

In addition, it plans to encourage citizens to participate in the donation culture through a regular donation system by linking reserved points and health points given by using smart services with the Sejong Community Chest of Korea donation system.

The new service is scheduled to begin pilot operation for citizens in January next year and is currently undergoing final inspection, including final functional tests.

Kwon Ki-hwan, head of the Future Strategy Headquarters, said, "This collaboration with public and private institutions has made civic life more convenient," adding, "We plan to continue to support public and private institutions to provide infrastructure for various smart services."
