Smart bus stops are evolving with diverse features such as heated benches

Suwon City has installed two "Smart Bus Stops" in Yeonmu-dong, where the "Smart City-type Urban Renewal New Deal Project" is being carried out.

The city replaced two strut-type bus stops, including the Suwon Global Lifelong Learning Center (to Changnyongmun Gate and Yeonmudae) and the Yeonmu Market Entrance (to Suwon Global Lifelong Learning Center and Uman Jugong Apartment) in the urban regeneration New Deal project.

There was no roof at the strut-type bus stops, so citizens waiting for the bus suffered inconvenience when it rained, snowed, or the sun was hot. Citizens had to stand and wait because there were no benches.

The "Smart Bus Stop" includes roofs, thermal benches, fine dust traffic lights that inform fine dust concentrations and humidity, and LED bus information notifications. Citizens will be able to wait for the bus in a more pleasant environment.

Yeonmu-dong was selected as the target site for the 2019 Urban Regeneration New Deal Project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in October 2019.

Projects that began in 2020 will be carried out step by step till 2023. About 10 smart services reflecting residents' demands will be applied in connection with Yeonmu- dong's urban regeneration project, ▲Yeonmu Village base space creation, ▲residential environment improvement, ▲village environment maintenance project, and ▲community revitalization project.

An official from Suwon-si said, "We have replaced the strut-type bus stop with a smart bus stop so that citizens can conveniently use the bus stop.", and "We will keep trying to create an urban environment where citizens can live more comfortably."
