Gimje-si was selected for the "2022 Digital Town Creation Project" organized by the Ministry of Interior and Safety.

This project is to create new vitality to resolve regional issues and revitalize the economy by introducing digital services in areas that need to resolve regional issues such as regional extinction due to population decline.

Gimje-si was the only city selected in Jeollabuk-do and secured 500 million won in state funds to promote the project.

Gimje-si plans to provide 'smart mobility safety services' for people with movement issues through the 'digital town creation' project.

This service will build a LoRa wireless device with a gyro sensor and GPS built-in an electric wheelchair used by the disabled and the elderly, and send notification to the guardian SMS in case of a collapse or accident. At the same time, the integrated control center delivers the accident to 119 for quick action.

In addition, the "Agricultural Machine Smart Operation Service" will be used to collect agricultural machine operation information data along with the detection of agricultural machine accidents using LoRa wireless devices and adjust the number of agricultural machine arrangements at Gimje-si's agricultural machine rental office.

Gimje-si plans to complete the project within this year to provide safety services for the vulnerable to traffic in order to create a "Happy together at Gimje-si by resolving local issues."

"We will overcome urban growth inhibitors such as aging and regional extinction by applying digital town services that combine policies that reflect residents' opinions," and added “In order to expand sustainable regional competitiveness and improve the quality of life of residents, we will focus more on the successful promotion of this project and the spread of citizen-sensitive services, said Jung Sung-joo, Mayor of Gimje-si.
