Yongsan-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jang-hyun Sung) has completed the "2022-2026 Smart City Plan" and promotes the creation of a smart city in Yongsan.

Yongsan-gu's "2022-2026 Smart City Plan" includes 35 implementation tasks in three areas: diffused, advanced, and newly proposed under two strategies (service composition and infrastructure creation) with the aim of creating a data city connecting residents and cities.

Diffused and advanced projects include tasks that need to be expanded or upgraded in the future based on various types of smart city projects currently being promoted by the district. The new proposal type is a regional specialized service that embraces smart businesses of cities and central ministries.

The diffused type includes seven tasks such as ▲ replacing intelligent CCTVs of major hubs ▲ installing smart crosswalks in children and senior protection zones ▲ creating smart parking lots in tourism and commercial areas ▲ sharing services for residents based on IoT sensors ▲ establishing a digital-based safety management system for old facilities. With the diffusion type project promotion, the district expects to solve the problem of service imbalance by reflecting regional characteristics.

It is planning to upgrade its services by linking and integrating data into businesses that have been operated fragmentally at the level of existing smart functions. It is expected that the convenience of service use and management will increase when the advanced project is completed.

Based on the results of urban diagnosis and smart diagnosis, 12 projects were included in the newly proposed business, including ▲ expansion of communication networks ▲ smart IoT device support services ▲ citizen participation smart tourism map creative platform ▲ public cultural facility-linked commercial district activation services for establishment of infrastructure environment, resolution of urban problems, revitalization of civic participation, public-private cooperation, and strengthening civic capabilities.

According to the roadmap, Yongsan-gu will divide the project into ▲ the early period (2022-2023), ▲ the mid-term (2024-2025), and ▲ the late period (after 2026) and promote the project step by step. In addition, based on the smart city plan, it plans to actively participate in the central government and Seoul Metropolitan Government's public offering projects to secure national and municipal funds and raise funds by attracting investment from private companies.

Jang-hyun Sung, Yongsan-gu mayor said, "Smart cities can increase regional competitiveness and prevent and solve various urban problems by adding technology to the space. The plan, which was established this time, will serve as the foundation for Yongsan, which is about to develop regional areas such as international business district development and Hannam redevelopment, to leap into a global smart city.”
