The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that Busan's public delivery app "Dongbaektong" will launch official services across Busan from January 19.
Dongbaektong is the first online integrated market app in the country that encompasses food and beverage stores, traditional markets, and product shopping malls for local companies, and has completed pilot operation of Yeonje-gu, which has been promoted since October last year and has now completed all preparations for orders and delivery across Busan.
Busan City has promoted the development of the application to expand the online market for small business owners who are suffering from excessive fees and advertising costs in the private delivery app market, which has formed a monopoly system, and plans to operate it as a free of 3 things policy that eliminates subscription fees, advertising fees, and brokerage fees for small business owners.
The Busan Metropolitan Government plans to expand subscriptions of traditional markets (more than 500 stores over 20 markets), restaurants (more than 5,000 stores), and small and medium-sized enterprises (200 companies, more than 1,000 products) by 2023.
In addition, it plans to lead a successful settlement by linking with popular local restaurants and promoting "Dongbaektong" with differentiated strategies such as online shopping at our neighborhood stores (hardware stores, lighting, etc.).
In particular, if customers pay with the Busan local currency "Dongbaekjeon" from the Dongbaektong app, the cashback will be immediately applied, which is not available in other private order apps. The Busan Metropolitan Government also prepared a launch event that provides a total of 15% cashback, an additional 5% to the existing 10%, and BNK Busan Bank will also hold an event to return 500 won if it pays with a Busan Bank card from Dongbaektong.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, "I hope this Dongbaektong will be a new hope for small business owners in Busan who had no choice but to use private delivery apps despite excessive commission fees amid the prolonged COVID-19 crisis."
