Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education selected Dunchon and Wirye Elementary School as the contest winners for ‘Green Smart Future School’

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on January 11 that it has selected Dunchon Elementary School and Wirye Elementary School as the first design contest winners for the "Seoul Type" Green Smart Future School.

These schools are scheduled to reopen as "Seoul-type" Green Smart Future School in September next year after conductive design and construction in the first half of this year.

△Union Ground - Dunchon Elementary School

It is designed to harmonize with nearby reconstruction apartment complexes with one basement floor, five ground floors, and a total floor area of 16,070㎡ (about 4,861 square meters).

In "space improvement," a key element of the "Seoul-type" Green Smart Future School, the educational space for lower grades (1st to 3rd grades) and higher grades (4th to 6th grades) was designed separately, and classroom groups were arranged to be free from road noise. As a master plan for the "green" element, the outer space of each cluster was designed as an experience-oriented yard with four colors, strengthening its connection with nearby children's parks.

△Growing Forest - Wirye Elementary School

With one basement floor, five ground floors, and a total floor area of 16,386㎡ (about 4,957 square meters), it is designed to allow experience school forests among nearby high-rise apartments.

Apart from the uniform school structure, forest experience-type spaces that allow various activities will be placed in various places, and play spaces linked to the central courtyard will be built as the Green element to revitalize environmental ecological education in life, and customized learning will be conducted as the Smart element.

Cho Hee-yeon, the Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said, "As the first design contest winner of the Seoul-type Green Smart Future School was announced and will be transformed, we will do our best to promote the implementation design and construction process so that schools such as students and parents can be satisfied with peace of mind to successfully start the 'Seoul-type' Green Smart Future School.”
