Korea's first wireless charging station for kickboards ‘Kickspot’, installed by Smart City Bucheon, has contributed to a significant improvement in the parking order of the city.
Bucheon City announced that it has promoted the Smart City Challenge project, a public offering project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and has provided incentives for returning wireless charging kickboards to improve parking order for shared electric kickboards in the city since May.
In addition, discount coupons for each nearby store provided by Bucheon City as an additional service to users of shared electric kickboards contributed to the revitalization of 28 alley commercial districts in Bucheon.
The wireless charging Kickspot was installed in five locations near Yeokgok Station in Bucheon city for the first time in May through cooperation between Bucheon-si and Smart City Challenge participants. The kickboards are automatically charged when users return them to the cradle after using the service.
LG Electronics' pad-type wireless charging technology is applied to the wireless charging "Kickspot" installed in Bucheon, the first smart city in Korea. For wireless charging, a separate reception pad was installed on the kick-going device.
When the device is mounted on the wireless charging "Kickspot" of the shared kickboard kick going, it comes into contact with the charging pad in the "Kickspot" and automatically starts charging. Kickgoing can check the status of kickgoing mounting of wireless charging 'Kickspot' in real-time through its own control system. The amount of charge of the mounted kick going device can also be determined, thereby optimizing the utilization of the wireless charging 'Kickspot'.
In order to encourage the use of wireless charging Kickspot, Bucheon City provided a 10% discount on Kickspot return for four weeks during the demonstration period, and analysis of kickgoing location data for about four months after the initial demonstration confirmed that 80% of the wireless charging Kickspot returned to the Kickspot.
Bucheon Mayor Jang, Deok-cheon said, "We will gradually promote measures to improve the safety of citizens and the management system for devices through the Smart City Challenge project to create a safe and pleasant culture of using personal mobiles and refine the transportation operating system with local commercial districts."
