The mayor of Anyang, Dae-ho Choi, said at a New Year's press conference that he would continue to boost the projects to create a "Future City Anyang."

Mayor Choi said at a press conference held at Anyang City Hall, "We will invest 1 trillion won in this year's budget and focus our administrative power on projects for the development to make Anyang City a future city for 100 years."

About last year, Mayor Choi stressed, "It was a year of achievements in various fields such as establishing an AI big data analysis platform, attracting a bio company Humasis, attracting XR optical hub centers, continuous designation of women-friendly cities and future education zones, and realizing the installation of sterilization facilities."

Then, he revealed his blueprint for this year's major administrative directions “In order to overcome the limitations of a city with stagnant growth, we will present a specific blueprint for the relocation of the city hall through basic planning services for shared growth and future leading global companies. We will continue to consult with the Ministry of Justice to create a cultural and green space for the Anyang Prison relocation project, which took its first step with the signing of a business agreement last year."

He also said, "We will make the existing planned railway network such as GTX-C, New Ansan Line, Gyeonggang Line, and Indokwon Dongtan Line possible early completion, and prepare a plan to build a new railway network to become the largest railway hub city in the southern part of the metropolitan area."

He added, "We will jointly establish a basic plan for new city maintenance in connection with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's master plan to present a systematic maintenance direction for Pyeongchon Newtown, and gradually push ahead with future city development projects such as well.

In order to create an economic hub that citizens can experience, Mayor Choi said, "We will support the local economy by operating employment support programs by class like a low-income class, expanding special guarantees for small and medium-sized companies, and revitalizing commercial districts."

Regarding education and welfare, the city is preparing to build a future education district, elementary economic and financial education, a children's library, and a youth culture center by base, double the nation's first childbirth support fund (first child 2 million won, second child 4 million won, third child 10 million won), designate a 24-hour daycare center, build a complex culture center for the disabled, and open.

Following the formation of 92.1 billion won in youth start-up funds, the government plans to implement policies such as raising 5 billion won worth of second fund, supporting rent deposits for homeless youth, and completing the construction of youth space on the first avenue of Anyang. The city will also expand support for eco-friendly cars and create a Climate Eco-Green Center.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its promotion to a city this year, Anyang is promoting various cultural events and commemorative projects under the theme of memory, harmony, and leap forward, including history exhibitions, Citizens' Day ceremonies, and citizen proposal contests. Mayor Choi said, "We will inspire citizens' pride and provide an opportunity to leap forward into a sustainable city by providing a venue for civic harmony."
