Samsung offers Digital Home Key service which opens door with Samsung Pay

Samsung Electronics Samsung Pay, the icon of the card culture revolution, has launched a digital home key service that can even open the apartment's front door. Samsung Electronics announced that it had installed a digital home key of 'Zigbang UWB Smart Door Lock' in Samsung Pay in cooperation with Zigbang, a comprehensive proptech company.

As Samsung Pay is equipped with the world's first UWB (Ultra-Wideband Based) "Digital Home Key" provided by Samsung Electronics, Samsung Pay users who have installed a Zigbang UWB smart door lock can easily open their homes just by accessing the door lock.

This means that users can conveniently enter and exit without contact without a separate authentication procedure such as entering a password by simply carrying a smartphone, so they no longer need to try to find a house key in their pockets or bags. In addition, families can set each other up so that they can know who enters and exits when they open the door through the Zigbang app.

If a user loses his or her smartphone, he or she can stop using the digital home key through 'Find My Device' on his or her PC.

Samsung Pay's Zigbang UWB digital home key can be used in Galaxy Fold 4 and S22 Ultra Plus equipped with UWB functions, and Samsung Electronics will continue to release smartphones equipped with UWB.

UWB technology is a short-range wireless communication protocol that utilizes radio waves such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and uses high-frequency bands to accurately measure distances up to centimeters (cm) and supports directionality.

Samsung Electronics established the Fine Ranging Consortium (FiRa), a UWB technology standard organization, in 2019, and this digital home key service also utilizes UWB technology certified by FiRa.

Samsung Pay's digital home key also protects users' sensitive information and encrypted keys through industry-leading security chipsets and is safe from potential hacking risks such as interference or interception of wireless signals due to precise UWB technology.

Samsung Electronics will continue to strengthen cooperation with its partners and actively listen to users' feedback to further expand the ease of use of Samsung Pay.
