Digital platform company KT (CEO Koo Hyun-mo, www.kt.com) announced that it will jointly promote Autonomy Through Infrastructure (ATI) business with Seoul Robotics (CEO Lee Han-bin), a 3D LiDAR autonomous driving software company.
Seoul Robotics is a promising startup with software technology that analyzes 3D LiDAR video based on AI, which is considered the eye of autonomous driving.
The two companies signed a business agreement at KT’s Songpa office in Songpa-gu, Seoul, attended by Choi Kang-rim, managing director of KT's AI Mobility business, and Lee Han-bin, CEO of Seoul Robotics.
KT and Seoul Robotics will work together to revitalize the ATI market.
The two companies will gradually develop cooperative tasks such as ▲ ATI business for domestic and foreign vehicle OEMs, ▲ Autonomous Valet Parking(AVP) pilot business, and ▲ development of new business models in the autonomous driving field.
Traditional autonomous driving utilizes only sensors and software built into the vehicles.
On the other hand, ATI builds LiDAR sensors that recognize moving objects with laser beams and computers in external facilities, including automobile production plants, to determine the location of the vehicle and enable remote autonomous driving.
By utilizing this, Level 5 autonomous driving, an autonomous driving system that operates cars without driver intervention in all areas, will be possible.
Through this cooperation, KT plans to jointly develop ATI solutions linked to 5G MEC(Mobile Edge Computing) and continue to expand domestic and foreign businesses.
KT has mobility-related communication and software technologies such as V2X, a vehicle object communication, Vision AI, which analyzes images and images, and Mobility Makers, an integrated platform that enables vehicle and road control and real-time monitoring.
Choi Kang-rim, managing director of KT AI Mobility Business Division, said, "KT has built core software capabilities in mobility by carrying out a number of public-private and industry-academic projects in ITS, C-ITS, and autonomous driving areas.", and “Based on KT's mobility-related communication, software, and infrastructure capabilities and Seoul Robotics' innovative technologies, it will introduce safer and more reliable autonomous driving services in manufacturing and logistics industries before realizing fully autonomous driving.”
