Metaverse platform of Busan Osirian Tourist Complex to be launched

Busan City Corporation (President Kim Yong-hak) announced that it plans to gradually build a virtual space platform "Meta Osiria (tentative name)" in the Osirian Tourism Complex to realize a smart tourism complex that provides unique and new experiences in virtual spaces that transcend the limitations of real tourism.

The Osirian Tourist Complex is a major tourism infrastructure development project in Busan, an international tourist city, and is becoming a representative tourist destination for all four seasons in Busan.

Based on the concept and technology of the metaverse, the corporation will implement "Meta Osiria" step by step in consideration of the operation situation of each facility and cooperation with tenants.

First, in order to establish a platform base in the first stage (2022-2024), a virtual space in the form of a cyber promotion hall for a tourism complex will be created. The second stage (2024-2027) combines and expands individual tourism facilities through collaboration and joint development with each tenant based on the built virtual space.

In the third stage (2025~), various events in "Meta Osiria" will be held to promote the use and raise long-term operating funds. The last four stages (2027~) are for developing and expanding "Meta Osiria" by applying future developing technologies (6G, etc.) to discover new content and improve the service environment.

The corporation will build an advanced and globalized smart tourism city through "Meta Osiria" and actively support it in line with the 2030 World Expo Busan attraction and hosting.

President Kim Yong-hak said, "We will build a platform base for 'Meta Osiria' through professional services next year and introduce core technologies step by step to establish a profit-generating system and promote virtual space after 27 years. We will continue to provide various customized services tailored to tourist needs."

The Osirian Tourist Complex has confirmed the investment in 32 of the 34 tourist facilities, and 24 facilities are already in operation or under construction.
