"Security Drone" is up in the sky

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it conducted the first main demonstration of the "Development of an Integrated System for Security Drone Operation in the Island," an empathy project of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Science and ICT to solve residents' problems.

About 40 officials, including Goheung-gun, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Jeonnam Provincial Police Commission, Jeonnam Provincial Police, Goheung Police Station, Ulsan TP, villagers, Sunchon National University which is a research institute, Korean Air, and Jeonnam TP, attended the demonstration event and shared opinions necessary for the future development stage.

The project will actively reflect the opinions of local residents to develop drones that can patrol the island day and night and respond to emergency situations, and will be used to solve on-site problems such as ▲crime prevention, ▲search for missing people, ▲theft prevention of fish farms, and ▲unauthorized dumping of marine waste.

A county official said, "The project was carried out in Sanghwa-do and Hahwado and Deukryang-do in Doyang-eup because Goheung is the only special liberalization zone in Jeollanam-do and can be exempted or simplified from various regulations related to drone development or flight.", and "I believe Goheung, which has the nation's largest drone infrastructure, will serve as the starting point for all drone utilization projects in the future."

Meanwhile, Goheung-gun is strengthening its position as a "drone-centered city, Goheung" by enabling various test, evaluation, demonstration projects and production related to drones, such as creating an unmanned aviation specialized agricultural complex, designating the Grand Challenge test bed of Goheung K-UAM, and demonstrating smart farming through 5G-based drones.

In addition, it plans to hold the Goheung Drone Expo for the first time as a local government next year, operate a drone light show at Nokdong Port, and establish a drone-specialized school to firmly dominate the domestic drone market.
