A sound pressure robot launched to transport infected patients in isolation

A "sound pressure robot for quarantine transport of infected patients" that can safely move patients with infectious diseases such as COVID-19 was introduced for the first time. According to Bestian Hospital and Robo Life Co., Ltd., the "human-following semi-autonomous bed robot for quarantine transport of infected patients" was demonstrated at the "4th Sejong Smart City Forum" held at the Osong H Sejong City Hotel on October 14.

The robot is being developed through a support project by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KIET). Robo Life is the host company, and Woosung E&G, Dr. Song, and Bestian Hospital are participating.

This robot is capable of autonomous driving and can detect and avoid objects in front of it, and Robo Life is in charge of autonomous movement tasks using multiple sensors. Woosung E&G Co., Ltd. is in charge of the sound pressure clean room suitable for the transfer of respiratory infectious diseases. Doctor Song Co., Ltd. is in charge of a system that measures and monitors a patient's biometric signal with wireless wearable equipment. The task of demonstrating of the developed product at the hospital is performed by Bestian Hospital.

Under the theme of "Bestian Hospital's Smart Response to Community Infectious Diseases" at the forum, Bestian Yang Jae-hyuk proposed an experience of operating a hospital dedicated to COVID-19 bases and a plan to link it with smart cities and introduced "negative pressure robots for quarantine infectious patients."

Bestian Hospital, which is specialized in treating burn patients, is a medical corporation that started from Sunhwa Medical Center in 1990 and now has hospitals in Seoul, Busan, and Osong.

Robo Life Co., Ltd. was established in 2007 and focuses on producing humanoid robots.

The 4th Sejong Smart City Forum was held under the theme of Health Care in Smart City with presentations and discussions by experts at industry-academia-related hospitals.
