Drones will deliver books to remote libraries in the mountains, allowing remote people to read popular new books more quickly.
Other advantages of delivering books by drones are the reduction of fuel costs and air pollution compared to existing vehicle delivery.
PABLO AIR (CEO Kim Young-joon), a domestic drone company, announced that it will start soon demonstrating a fast and safe drone book delivery service with Suseong-gu, Daegu to spread the book reading culture.
In May this year, PABLO AIR launched a library drone book delivery demonstration service, produced a takeoff and landing pad equipped with precision sensors, and even prepared a dedicated delivery box and a parachute to provide fast and safe delivery services.
In particular, it has established thorough safety measures between travel routes and received strict non-visible special flight approval.
PABLO AIR plans to deliver books 150 times to the Muhak Forest Library (2.2km), Jinbatgol Campground (1.5km), and Daegu Sports Center for the Disabled (3.5km), including the Padong Library, 5.5km away from the Yonghak Library near the mountainous area.
The 'mutual loan service' is to receive books from other libraries at nearby libraries.
Until now, it took an average of five days to use cargo vehicles and there was a burden of fuel and air pollution.
However, if people use the 'drone mutual loan service' that uses electric batteries, they can receive the books faster. If people apply in the morning, they will be able to receive and read in the afternoon.
‘Visiting Drone Book Delivery’ transports books to Jinbatgol Campground, the popular camping spot, and Daegu Sports Center for the Disabled who are unable to visit the library.
The purpose is to make books accessible in daily life comfortably and easily.
Jang Byung-hee, head of PABLO AIR's logistics division, said, "We want to show the public that drones are a quick and safe means of delivery that can be used in everyday life.", and "We plan to analyze the flight data accumulated by this demonstration and establish an automatic book delivery system that can operate autonomously as well as present a commercialization model plan.
PABLO AIR was established in 2018 and is an unmanned delivery company through its own platform PAMNet that integrates unmanned mobility beyond drones. ▲Medical Shipping ▲Fresh Food Delivery ▲ e-commerce delivery is in service.
