"Flying Sejong!" Sejong City to hold a drone racing tournament in October

Sejong City (Mayor Choi Min-ho) announced that it will hold the '2022 National Drone Racing Competition' under the theme of 'Flying Sejong' for two days from October 8th to 9th.

The event will be held in Central Park for two days in conjunction with the '2022 Korea Garden Industry Fair', hosted by the city and Sejong Techno Park, with the participation of the Drone Racing Association and Korea University of Media Arts.

The racing competition is designed to provide citizens with a lot of attractions through nationwide drone leisure events and to revitalize science culture contents that meet the characteristics of Sejong, the future strategic capital.

The competition segment will be divided into 2 groups, youth (analog/digital) and general public (analog), with the first day being preliminaries and the second-day being finals. Also, events such as drone and robot experiences will be provided as well as exhibitions.

Participation is available for any youth or general public across the country who have multi-copter coordinator qualifications (Type 4 and above). The application category is 24 youth leagues (12 analog drone racing, 12 digital cinema hoop drone racing), and 24 general leagues (24 analog drone racing), and if there are many applicants, the number will be increased.

Applications for the competition will be available till September 30.

Sejong City plans to establish a foundation for fostering the drone leisure industry starting from this year's competition and expand the scale of the competition in the future.

The Sejong Science Festival will be held from October 7 to 9 at Sejong Lake Park. The Sejong Convention Center will hold a robot-themed future talent road show on the 8th. Various science and culture events will be held as well.
