Kakao Map shows real-time location of Busan city buses

It is now possible to check the real-time location of Busan city buses on Kakao Map.

Kakao said it will provide ultraprecision location information on the buses in Busan through its map app service Kakao Map.

Busan is the fifth city to get this service in Korea following Jeju, Ulsan, Chuncheon, and Mokpo.

Kakao Map Bus Location Information uses the satellite navigation system (GNSS) to show real-time bus location on the map and update bus location information in 10cm units in seconds.

It is expected that the convenience of bus users will be enhanced because it can check the speed of movement according to the signal waiting for state and the road situation.

The way to use the information is very simple. On the first screen of Kakao Map, press the menu bar or the right layer button on the top search window and turn on the ultra-precise bus function.

Ultra-precision bus location information is also provided when selecting a detailed route in bus stop searches or public transportation directions.

The citizens can quickly find the desired bus on the map by marking the route number for each bus icon and dividing the color according to the type of bus.

High accuracy map of Kakao bus location information is provided in navigation mode. In fact, traveling by bus, as selected based on the location of the bus moving map. When a bus on the map is selected, the navigation mode is started. A moving bus stop, speed, and license number to show my journey and information at a glance can be found.

Kakao expects the convenience of Busan citizens as well as travelers to be greatly increased with ultra-precise bus location information.

It is possible to check the real-time location, speed, and direction of the bus, making less of unnecessary transfers and waiting time. It can be more useful on the outskirts of the city.

Ultra-precision bus location information is a cooperative model between Kakao and local governments.

In September 2019, Kakao began to provide ultra-precision bus location information for the first time in Korea in Jeju in cooperation with Jeju Island. It was also applied to Ulsan, Chuncheon, and Mokpo in May this year as users satisfied with the function requested to expand the service delivery area. It plans to continue to expand its services to various regions such as Gwangju within this year.

“The information on the location of ultra-precision buses is a specialized function provided only in the Kakao map, which greatly contributes to the increase in the satisfaction of users of the Kakao map,” said a Kakao official. “We will continue to update various functions and services considering the convenience of users in the future.”
