- The two ministries have signed a business agreement for mutual cooperation in drone and Urban Air Mobility development. - Cooperation is expected, such as expanding civilian-military technology exchanges, revitalizing markets, and joint use of airspace.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport decided to cooperate on the “development of the drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) industry and fostering a strong scientific and technological force”.

The two ministries agreed on the need for cooperation on civilian-military technology development and exchange, market revitalization, participation in tests and demonstrations, utilization of infrastructure, and joint use of airspace for the development of the future aviation industry represented by drones and Urban Air Mobility and signed a business agreement with Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol and Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Eo Myeong-so in attendance on the 27th.

The agreement contains cooperation items for both ministries to lead the development of drone systems and Korean Urban Air Mobility and innovative growth together.

The main cooperation items included in the business agreement are as follows.

▲Cooperation to secure growth engines for Urban Air Mobility and drone industries and to expand public acceptance

▲Cooperation in policy formulation, airspace use, demand creation, etc. for the development and development of urban air traffic, K-drone systems, defense transport drones, and integrated control systems

▲Cooperation in the utilization of infrastructures such as drone flight test sites and certification and educational facilities

▲Cooperation in participation in new technology demonstration projects such as Urban Air Mobility, AI applied to drones, digital twin, and technology exchange

▲Cooperation in other areas of joint interest between the two ministries

In addition, based on this business agreement, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plan to sign a working agreement for each field if necessary for efficient cooperation between the two ministries in the future and continue to establish a practical cooperation system such as co-hosting seminars and workshops.

The core technology development areas for the continued development of the domestic drone industry and commercialization of Korean Urban Air Mobility in 2025 will be applied to the development of defense drones in the future, which will help the construction of science and technology-based military forces, and the Ministry of National Defense, the largest consumer, agreed to play a role in revitalizing the market.

Vice Minister Shin Beom-cheol of the Ministry of National Defense said, "Through this business agreement, we hope it would be an opportunity to quickly apply cutting-edge technologies such as drones and Urban Air Mobility to the military while contributing significantly to the demonstration and spread of civilian technology and we will work together to make it a successful case of cooperation between government ministries.
