Sejong Special Self-Governing Province will invest 3 billion won in the commercial district of Smart Village in Naseong-dong to demonstrate the technology and safety of hi-tech robot services.
Sejong City announced that it will invest 3.75 billion won in total project expenses, including 3 billion won in government expenses, for three years, after being selected for the Service Robot Demonstration project, which the city had applied for the Smart Village Supply and Expansion Project in 2023 by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This project will demonstrate the technology and safety of advanced robot convergence service through the demonstration of a multifunctional service robot in the shopping area.
Specifically, the technology enables robots to deliver indoor and outdoor, build smart security systems such as expenses, guide customers, and provide non-face-to-face anti-virus support to multi-use facilities.
Local robot companies such as Sejong Techno Park, Naver Cloud Co., Ltd., Tweeny Co., Ltd., Unmanned Solution Co., Ras Tech Co., Ltd., and TQS Korea Co., Ltd will join the demonstration project.
Sejong City plans to invest a total of 3.75 billion won by 2025, in ▲ robot production and remodeling, ▲ construction and optimization of a robot integrated control system based on a 5G specialization network and ▲upgrading indoor and outdoor services.
In addition, it plans to commercialize robots and foster Sejong-type robot-specific districts to provide a win-win basis between small business owners and robot companies.
The Urban Atrium in Naseong-dong is the central district of Sejong City, the longest complex cultural commercial street in the world with a total length of 1.4 km, designed to enable culture, work, shopping and play in one place.
Sejong City said it decided that Naseong-dong Urban Atrium was the best place to test various hi-tech robot services with merchants and residents and to build a commercialization base.
Sejong City will demonstrate the convergence services provided by the government and expert consulting, detailed demonstration plans, and other services such as serving, transportation, life logistics robots, security robots, and guide robots in phases at shopping malls and shopping malls.
Based on the 5G specialization network, which Naver Cloud will provide, it will build an integrated remote control system that collects and controls robot sensors and video information in real-time. It will strengthen the technology to control multifunctional robots equipped with artificial intelligence functions.
Sejong City expects this project will help small business owners who are struggling with COVID-19 by contributing to the revitalization of the commercial area as well as fostering the robot industry and improving the working environment.
“We will proactively foster a model of hi-tech robot service that citizens can experience,” said Nam Gung-ho, director of the Economic and Industrial Bureau of Sejong City.
