- The province to invest 330 million won to promote robot distribution in industrial sites and everyday life - Gyeonggi-do also signs a business agreement with the Army to support a new project for robotics and drones

Gyeonggi-do announced on June 17 that it will invest a total of 330 million won this year to support the demonstration of robots to promote the private and public use of robots.

This project aims to promote the spread of robots in industrial sites and everyday life as the demand for non-face-to-face services increases.

Since last year, the province has reorganized the project focus from robot research and development (R&D) business to the robot demonstration, supporting companies in the province.

This year's budget will support a total of 330 million won in project expenses, up to 120 million won per project for a total of three tasks in two areas.

Participation types can be applied in two areas: 'free competition' and 'military-linked designated competition'.

△ 'Free Competition' recruits various business models for industrial fields and daily life robot utilization.

Recently, high demand for manufacturing and logistics robots, service robots such as disease control and delivery, etc. are preferred, and other demonstration topics and places can be freely proposed to promote the convenience of the residents. A total of two tasks are selected, and the support scale is up to 120 million won per task.

△’Designated Contest’ is a field that proposes a robot business model that can be used by the military, and the army selects a suitable place for conducting demonstration topics among units in the province and provides them as a test bed. One project will be selected, and the support scale is up to 100 million won for the project.

The military-linked designation contest was newly introduced this year in the robotics and drone field demonstration support project based on the Gyeonggido-Korea Army Business Agreement for mutual exchange and cooperation in the future technology field signed last year.

In order to enhance the capabilities of companies in Gyeonggi-do and to advance the military through the introduction of excellent private products, the demonstration will be carried out by utilizing the special environment of the Army, which is difficult to access from the private sector.

The applicants are required to submit the business plan and other documents by June 30 and by mail or visit the Future Technology Promotion Team of Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator. Supporting companies will be selected in July after reviewing documents and evaluating the presentation.

“The growth potential of the robot industry is growing as demand for digital conversion and non-face-to-face services in the industrial sector rapidly increases,” said Park Jong-il, director of the future industry department in Gyeonggi-do. “We will actively support the development of the robot industry through the government’s public offering project and the provincial government’s own projects.”

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi-do plans to carry out various projects to revitalize the robot industry, such as holding conferences and supporting exhibition participation, in addition to the demonstration support program this year.
