Shinhan Financial and Google cooperates to foster startups for Smart City

Shinhan Financial will cooperate with Google for Startups Campus for the ‘Smart City Accelerating’ program.

Shinhan Financial plans to nurture start-ups with innovative technologies in four areas: Smart Life, City Infrastructure, Sustainable City, Bio, and Digital Health, and will provide various programs such as investment in dedicated funds and global network linkage.

Shinhan Financial Group announced on May 17 that it starts recruiting start-ups to participate in the second half of the year's upbringing program at ‘Shinhan Square Bridge’, a start-up development platform.

As part of the Group's mid-to-long-term finance innovation plan ‘Triple-K Project’, Shinhan Financial Group has created ‘Shinhan Square Bridge’ in major cities across the country, including Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, and Jeju, supporting start-ups to advance into the global market and foster K-Unicorn.

The recruitment is aimed at corporations within seven years of their foundation in two areas, Shinhan Square Bridge ‘Seoul’ and ‘Incheon’.

Through this recruitment, Shinhan Financial plans to select 30 companies from two tracks, including 15 'smart city accelerators' and 15 'Shinhan Incubation'.

The selected start-ups will also be given various opportunities such as free office space, investment in dedicated funds, business consulting, integrated IR, and open innovation.

“We will also support global expansion based on the know-how and network of Google for Startups Campus as well as business scale-up and investment linkages. We will continue to provide various programs to grow together with startups and foster them systematically.” said a Shinhan Financial Group official.
