Busan City selects 10 commercialization tasks to foster Smart Logistics Industry

- Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency will provide 100 million won in subsidies per project and support for R&D as well as commercialization

Busan City and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency announced that they have selected 10 new tasks for the "2022 Smart Logistics Commercialization Support Project" to expand the commercialization of ICT-based smart logistics products and services.

The project has been carried out as a part of the SW convergence cluster project by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Busan City to promote the advancement and digital transformation of the logistics industry, a regional strategic industry, and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency has been operating it every year since 2019.

As an example of an excellent company, Food Pang (CEO Gong Kyung-ryul), a food material B2B platform company that participated in the support project in 2021, achieved 30% improvement in warehouse logistics efficiency and 50 direct and indirect new employment.

The final 10 tasks were selected through a public contest held in March, and small and medium-sized companies in Busan will participate as host companies. ICT companies and logistics companies will perform tasks through mutual consortium formation.

The selected tasks include ▲ Industry's first collaboration platform for international logistics contractors(forwarders) (Sky Consol) ▲ Automation of distribution and development of Delivered Korea’s system, overseas delivery and logistics platform for foreign targets in Korea direct purchase (Delivered Korea) ▲ Development of on-demand forecasting production model based on big data for proactive response to market trends (Just Wonder) ▲ Development and commercialization of last mile ‘Drone Transportation Management System' by sea (Marine Drone Tech) ▲ Development of integrated waybill system based on direct purchase (Cos-Korea) ▲ Multi-purpose marine logistics cloud using satellite AIS (Automatic Ship Identification System) data (Eco Marine) ▲ Development of delivery efficiency system using small Station Point of Distributor (PLZ) ▲ Cloud-based container storage matching and yard management platform (Containus) ▲ Recycled smart logistics distribution platform through processing reproduction and food funding of disused agricultural products (We Tree) ▲ Establishment of optimal Stage Plan data utilization service platform that can accommodate the last order after the establishment of the optimal plan (Rian)

The project period is until December this year, and 100 million won will be provided per project. In addition, ▲ data-based business support consulting ▲ SW quality management support for commercialization task development ▲ participation in domestic exhibitions ▲ follow-up support for excellent tasks will be provided next year.

Task-carrying companies share their logistics data on the "Busan Smart Logistics Business Platform" operated by the Busan City and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency to contribute to data-based business activation and promote logistics data distribution.

Through this project, it is expected to ▲revitalize and upgrade the smart logistics industry in the region, create new markets and jobs, ▲develop and diffuse new ICT-based services through collaboration with companies related to the smart logistics industry, ▲create a data-based business environment, and promote the digitalization of the logistics industry.

Jeong Moon-seop, director of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, said, "Busan companies have had difficulties in sales and maintaining employment since COVID-19, but we hope to foster and upgrade the smart logistics industry through this project because demand for smart logistics is increasing and digital transformation is accelerating."
