The Seoul Metropolitan Government held the ‘2021 Big Data Campus Conference’ using the Metaverse Platform in collaboration with the Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation on November 19.
The Big Data Campus of Seoul is a platform that can analyze and utilize unopened data stably. It was opened in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu in July 2016. The conference for the activation of big data utilization is celebrating its sixth anniversary this year.
In order to solve various social problems with citizens by utilizing the big data campus analysis infrastructure, it has provided services that allow citizens to directly participate in the analysis by providing card sales data and delivery data that are difficult for citizens to access.
The 2021 Big Data Campus Conference was held using the Metaverse platform from 14:00 on the day, and the recorded version will be broadcast on the official YouTube channel later.
Special lectures by two experts in the big data field and presentations and awards ceremonies by the top three teams of the "Big Data Campus Contest" were also held.
In the special lecture, Yoon Jong-young, head of the AI Hub, presented "Big Data and Smart Citizens" under the theme of "Big Data and Smart Citizens," and Jeon Jong-sik, a professor at Kyungnam University, gave a lecture under the title "In the Massage of Digital Transformation Wind."
Meanwhile, 260 people from 76 teams participated in the Big Data Campus Contest, conducting mentoring twice for 15 teams that passed the preliminary trial, and the final 11 teams were selected through presentation evaluation on the 16th.
At the conference, the top three teams with high scores in the contest had time to announce their entries in person, and awards 11 teams that advanced to the finals of the contest will be held.
The prize was awarded 1 team for Seoul Metropolitan Government Prize, 1 team for Seoul Creative Economic Innovation Center, 1 team for CJ Olive Networks Prize, 3 teams for Grand Prize, and 5 teams for Excellence Prize. The total prize money was 19.5 million won. The benefit such as the preference for moving into the incubating space (S Village) of the Seoul Creation Economic Innovation Center, linkage of large enterprise open innovation, and linkage of private cooperation partner investment will be supported.
In particular, the top eight selected people through fierce screening and competition will be given a chance to participate in CJ OliveNetworks' big data talent training internship program (AI-DT Research Institute internship program).
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will consider using 11 winners of the Big Data Campus Contest for projects and services in Seoul through consultation with related policy departments in Seoul.
“We hope that this conference will create a big data-based social ecosystem and contribute to the cultivation of data analysts,” said Park Jong-soo, a policy officer at the Smart City in Seoul. “We will continue to make efforts to realize a smart city Seoul that solves urban problems in various fields based on data,” he said.
