Seoul Metropolitan Government Starts "Smart Management" of Street Trash Cans

The Seoul Metropolitan Government attached QR codes to street trash cans and started smart management.

Since July, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been operating smart management of 243 street trash cans in Mapo-gu on a trial basis.

For systematic management, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to "smartly" manage the street trash cans by attaching QR codes to them so that any citizen can request repair or maintenance of street trash cans.

Trash cans with QR codes can be managed in real-time in connection with the "IoT Smart Clean Road Management System" operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

In particular, any citizen can request cleaning of the street trash can exceeding a load of garbage or request repair of the damaged bin through QR code access.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will conduct a pilot operation in Mapo-gu by this year, evaluate its effectiveness, and expand it to other autonomous districts.

Lim, Mi-kyung, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's living environment director, said, "We will do our best to smartly manage street trash cans so that Seoul citizens can enjoy the pleasant city of Seoul."
