The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lim, Hye-sook) will open a safe intelligent (smart) store at Starfield COEX Mall (B1F) E-Mart 24 on the 8th, which has been demonstrated in cooperation with the private sector to resolve the security threats of intelligent stores as part of the digital new deal "K-cyber quarantine."
"Smart Store" refers to a store with enhanced security by applying convergence security technology to automated store technologies from user authentication to access, purchase, and payment, and integrating intelligent physical security technologies such as intelligent CCTV.
The Ministry of Science and ICT unveiled an empirical model of smart stores that applied various convergence security technologies to enhance the safety of non-face-to-face intelligent stores on the 7th.
The Ministry of Science and ICT is getting attention as it has actually opened smart stores that have improved security by preventing damage to small business owners who operate stores and taking physical and technical security measures to ensure that the public uses them safely.
The operating principles of smart stores are as follows:
❶ In the access control/user authentication stage, the validity of authentication information is processed to verify the identity of visitors, control only authorized users to enter, and prevent illegal entry such as following with intelligent image recognition.
❷ In the movement tracking/action recognition stage closed-circuit television and lidar detector (sensor) is linked to learning with artificial intelligence to detect purchasing, abnormal behavior (damage, etc.), and emergency situations (fire, etc.) along human movement lines to prevent damage to products and facilities.
❸ The operation stage of the detector checks security such as data transmitted from various IoT devices such as cameras, fire detection, and motion detectors.
❹ The payment step eliminates security threats such as forgery and alteration of payment information and bypasses payment.
Through the newly opened testbed store, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to develop a security model to improve and supplement the vulnerability of devices and equipment in the normal operation situation and to prevent damage to small business owners' stores by the end of this year.
In particular, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to help "smart stores" develop physical security solutions that combine artificial intelligence and convergence security and enter new global markets by providing high-security performance at a lower cost than solutions in advanced countries.
In addition, it will build an "intelligent smart store security technology testbed" by the end of this year to test intelligent physical security solutions in real-time situations so that the small and medium-sized company can develop visualization processing, and machine learning, which are core security technologies of intelligent smart stores.
To this end, the Ministry of Science and ICT plans to build a data analysis room in the Pangyo information protection cluster and process data generated at testbed stores in the analysis room to support small and medium-sized company’s advancement and commercialization of intelligent algorithm performance.
Moreover, the Ministry of Science and ICT will ‘develop a physical security integrated platform due to the spread of non-face-to-face services’ and ‘develop next-generation physical security core device technology’ in order to localize core technology of physical security from 2022.
In particular, it plans to actively support the development of an integrated platform operating system that verifies the performance of automated services, such as whether various physical security products used in non-face-to-face unmanned services are stably linked.
Minister Lim, Hye-sook said, "We are opening a new non-face-to-face market as advanced convergence security technology is applied to intelligent stores. For the safety of the people, we will proactively develop and apply security models and technologies, and support stores operated by small business owners."
