The 5th World Smart City Expo (WSCE 2021), the Asia-Pacific region's largest smart city international event, will be held to show the present and future of "K-Smart City" at a glance.
Under the theme of ‘Smart City, Be Real (See R.E.A.L.* YOUR SMART CITY )', hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Roh Hyung-wook), the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lim Hye-sook), the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (President Kim Hyun-joon), Korea Water Resources Corporation (President Park Jae-hyun), and KINTEX (President Lee Hwa-young), will be held at KINTEX, Goyang from September 8 to 10.
The World Smart City Expo, which marks its fifth, is an international event where domestic and foreign city experts, companies, international organizations and citizens share policies and technologies on smart cities and discuss the vision and value of the city.
The first Expo was held in 2016 and the fourth was held in 2019.
This year’s event will feature exhibitions and programs divided into Smart Challenge Hall and National Demonstration City Hall. The Smart Challenge Hall will be filled with various challenges from local governments and companies that use advanced technologies such as information and communication technology (ICT) to solve parking, safety and traffic problems in the city center and switch to smart cities.
Especially, it is expected that the expo will strengthen the status and global leadership of "K-Smart City" by presenting today and tomorrow of "K-Smart City" at a glance.
The opening ceremony will begin with a congratulatory speech by Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom and National Assembly's National Land Transportation Committee Chairman Lee Hun-seung, and a message of congratulations will be given by senior officials related to smart cities from overseas, including Peru's Minister of Housing and Hygiene Geiner Alvarado López, and Bulgarian Kazanlak Mayor Galina Stoianova,.
The keynote speech is drawing attention as Keith Strier, vice president of NVIDIA global AI, is scheduled to give a lecture about ‘South Korea’, which is leading smart city technology and global smart city, under the theme of New Frontier of Urban Innovation.
At the conference followed by the keynote speech, more than 150 prominent smart city experts, Franc Weereind, the Dutch mayor of Almir, and Carine Rolland, CEO of Plug Power, will discuss the latest global agenda in depth.
