Sejong City opens a contest to let people find urban problems based on big data and propose ideas of solutions and smart services.
Sejong City (mayor Lee, Chun-hee) announced that it will hold the "2nd Big Data Analysis Idea Contest" for the entire nation from August 10 to September 30.
The contest’s purpose is to implement a solution to urban problems that citizens can experience by analyzing the ideas from big data analysis.
This contest will be held for the second time this year after last year, and the theme is "Widely beneficial to Sejong with big data," and it is free to suggest urban problem solutions or smart services using public and private data.
Individuals or teams wishing to participate in the contest can apply through Sejong City App, a citizen-participating mobile app by the deadline, and details can be found in the Sejong City App and the city website notice.
Sejong City will select the top 10 (teams) through documentary assessment in October, and after the second presentation evaluation, one (teams) will be named for the first place, two (teams) for 2nd place, and three (teams) for 3rd place and award 4.5 million won in prize money.
"Since Smart City should utilize new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to solve urban problems and improve quality of life, it is important to focus on citizens' inconveniences and voices," said Bae Young-sun, head of the Urban Growth Division. “We hope that this idea contest will help us communicate with citizens and find smart services that are essential for them.”
