The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it opens an ‘Online Smart City Tour’ event from the 19th to the 23rd so that the people can experience the achievement of the smart city.
It is a special event to improve the understanding and forge a bond of sympathy about the Korean New Deal by feeling the achievement and the change in daily life over the first anniversary of the Korean New Deal. In addition to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, 10 central ministries including the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Employment, and two local governments including Daejeon and Chungnam are participating.
Smart City, which is being promoted as a representative project of the Korean New Deal, aims to improve the quality of life of the people and the competitive edge of the city by combining the new technology of the 4th industrial revolution with cities and solving urban problems such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, crime and excessive energy consumption.
Through the Online Smart City Tour, the user can experience various smart services and technologies implemented on the basis of the characteristics of each of 6 cities such as Sejong, Bucheon, Daejeon, Busan, Anyang, and Gangneung. The video was made with the concept of traveling to six cities with friends so that the user can easily feel the actual smart cities currently implemented.
The video of six cities is available on Korea’s national smart city website, and there will be a brief survey about the most impressive city and smart service after watching all the videos. About 200 people who participated in the survey will be randomly picked for a giveaway.
The main contents of each city in the Online Smart City Tour video are as follows.
■ Bucheon City: Pleasant and convenient Smart Life City
In Bucheon, the user can experience how everyday-life problems such as parking and fine dust can be solved in the Smart City.
△Parking Sharing Service which provides information on available parking spaces and parking fees via the app
△A Station Fine Dust Reduction Service which measures the dust concentration inside the subway station and automatically operates the fine dust reduction device
■ Sejong City: A smart city that leads innovative technologies
Sejong is a demonstration city of smart city innovation technology with various cutting-edge services currently being piloted.
△ Self-driving shuttle operating in Central Park
△ Demand-responsive mobility service Shucle enables real-time bus calls regardless of the location of bus stops
△Roren House, a zero-energy housing complex with various energy-saving technologies
△ Smart Crosswalks to keep pedestrians safe.
■ Daejeon City: Smart changes in the traditional market
In Daejeon, a smart traditional market was built to prevent fire and make it more convenient for customers to shop.
△Electric Fire Prevention Service to detect the real-time electrical abnormal signal by installing IoT sensors on the cabinet panel
△Drone Safety Service to find the accident scene in real-time through unmanned drones
△ Parking Sharing Service for user convenience
■ Busan City: National pilot city of Smart City where imagination becomes reality
In Busan, the user can experience the life of future city residents by looking around the main services of the national pilot city of smart city, and inclusive smart city services for the mobility handicapped.
△ Smart Village which will start living in at the end of this year
△Various innovative services such as robot delivery, renewable energy, and smart water management
△ Smart Bus Stop with convenient technologies such as voice guidance, emergency bell, and public Wi-Fi for the mobility handicapped
△ Indoor Navigation to help the people to find a way in a complicated subway station
■ Anyang City: A sensitive smart city safety net that protects citizens’ safety
Anyang safely manages the city by using the smart city integrated platform, and it is possible to experience safety services for the elderly living alone and women on their way home late at night.
△The Single Elderly Households Protection Service to check the safety status through sensors that can detect human movement or water usage in real-time
△Safe Return Service for Women which connects the location information to the city operation center when the user shakes her phone or press the emergency button on the app, the police can immediately go to the scene to ensure safety
■ Gangneung City: A smart tourism city that revitalizes local businesses
Gangneung has been reborn as a smart tourism city.
△Integrated Mobility Service which allows reservations and payment for all means of transportation to be made at once to improve accessibility in the old city center
△Luggage Delivery Service to take bags to any place the user wants
△Local Business Information Service which enables information delivery of markets in old city center and reservations
