Daegu Metropolitan City has started the ‘Eco-friendly Mobility Service Integration Platform Construction’ project that connects mobility mileage with local business vouchers.

The city held the commencing ceremony of the 'Eco-friendly Mobility Service Integration Platform Construction' project, on the 7th, which was selected as a project for the ‘2021 Private Business Creation Public Innovation Platform Construction Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Intelligence Information Society Agency (NIA).

This project, which was selected as a public innovation platform planning task in 2020, was promoted as a public innovation platform construction project in 2021 after the excellence of its business model was verified through task planning consulting supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and NIA (Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency).

project cost is a total of 1.7 billion won (1.5 billion won from the government, 200 million won from the city), and the integrated platform will be built by end of this year and the pilot service will be launched in January next year.

Through this platform, Daegu plans to integrate mileage generated when using various mobility platforms and convert it into ‘Daegu Happiness Pay’ and ‘DGU U-Pay’ to use it at public transportation and affiliate stores. It is planning to lay the foundation for revitalizing the ecosystem of the mobility industry by encouraging the participation of millennial consumers who are leading the mobility market.

In addition, as mobility is changing from the concept of simple 'transportation' to 'sharing', 'convenience', and 'pleasure', safe driving culture and parking can be established while providing mileage when parking in a designated area and certification for using a shared kickboard. It is expected to contribute to the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure through 'Electric vehicle charging station location and profitability analysis' in line with the electric vehicle expansion policy that is being pursued to reduce air pollution and environmental pollution such as fine dust caused by internal combustion vehicles.

At the launching ceremony, Data Alliance (DA) in charge of building the platform, Wookyung Information Technology, Daegu Bank, DGU U-Pay, and other mobility operators attended to share their plans.

“We will increase the convenience of using mileage, lead the revitalization of the local economy in conjunction with local business voucher ‘Daegu Happiness Pay’ and transportation cards, and create a platform which will be a basis for creating new private businesses by linking with various local businesses in the future as card and mobile payment increases”, said Jeong-gi Kim, head of Daegu City Planning and Coordination Office.
