An International Project to Solve Social Problem by Building a Smart City Is Proposed

The Seoul National University College of Engineering hosts the international digital conference ‘Green Smart Development & Vision’ to build a sustainable global cooperative network

An international project has been proposed to solve social and cultural problems through smart city construction.

Such a proposal is getting attention as it is known that it will be presented at the ‘International Symposia GSDV (Green Smart Development & Vision)’ which is for building a sustainable global cooperation network, being held from the 22nd to the 24th by the Seoul National University College of Engineering (Dean: Cha, Guk-hyeon).

The GSDV, which is held under the theme of ‘The Great Transformation’, is a completely digital conference. The conference will be pre-recorded and sent to the world for three days and will be shared with about 1,000 people including overseas graduates and students, ICT-related domestic companies and multinational companies that are cooperating with Seoul National University.

The GSDV will proceed with the presentation of an international project proposal to solve the social and cultural problem based on eco-friendly, sustainable innovation that can respond to climate change through business ecosystem innovation, a new paradigm of economic growth after Covid-19, and construction of smart city and ICT technology.

The lecturers will be Ki-moon Ban, the 8th UN Secretary-General and the Chairman of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Yannick Glemarec, the Secretary-General of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Margaret Kim, the Founder of Gold Standard, Frank Rijsberman, the Secretary-General of the Global Green Growth Institute, and Fernando Pons, the Vice President of European Bank for Reconstruction Development (EBDR).

On the first day, June 22 (Tuesday), the participants such as GCF, EBDR, Gold Standard, ALTMAR, etc. will join in a panel discussion on innovation for sustainable green investment under the sub-theme of ‘Green Transformation’.

On the second day, June 23 (Wednesday), Manuel Otero, the President of Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), will give a keynote lecture and IICA experts will make a presentation following the presentation and sharing best cases of smart cities by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), The World Bank, etc. under the theme of ‘Next Agriculture Transformation’.

On the last day, June 24 (Thursday), the the conference will proceed with a session on opportunities for a new economic paradigm and changes in the global business ecosystem of Born2Global, and a study on the overseas advancement of Korean companies and cooperative projects of Seoul National University ITPP (International Technology Professional Program) students who are international ICT experts under the sub-theme of ‘Development Transformation and Vision’.

Meanwhile, this annual event, which has been held since 2011, is an international conference hosted by the Global R&DB Center (GRC) of Seoul National University and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
