10 cities were selected for drone demonstration in 2021

Drones will deliver to the campsite and monitor the disasters of mountains in near future.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that 10 cities have been selected for the “Drone Demonstration City” project this year, which include Yeongwol city of Gangwon-do, Seongnam city of Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, Gwangju city, Suseong-gu of Daegu city, Daejeon city, Sejong city, Ulsan city, Jinan city of Jeonbuk-do, and Seosan city of Chungcheongnam-do.

13 drone companies such as Doosan Digital Innovation were also selected as operators of the "drone regulation sandbox".

Following 2 locations in 2019 and 4 locations in 2020, the number of "drone demonstration cities" significantly expanded to 10 cities nationwide this year, and it is expected that each local government will support the budget of 1 billion won for a precise drone flight demonstration.

As the "Drone Regulation Sandbox" business, the demonstration will be promoted for various purpose; commercialization of pizza delivery service collaborated with the global pizza chain, the sophistication of drone protection system, autonomous flight in indoor space, operation of a drone in bad weather environment, blood delivery, and process management in the construction site.

It is planning to support the cost of the demonstration within 100 to 300 million won for each consortium, and derive related regulatory improvement plans based on the demonstration results.
