Geoje City is pushing for a transition to a smart city with the vision of 'Global No. 1 Future Marine Smart Blue City, Geoje'.
Geoje City held the "Final Press Conference on the Establishment of Basic Plan for Geoje Smart City" on December 1.
At the briefing session, a mid-to-long-term comprehensive plan was announced, which includes strategies from 2022 to 2026, smart city service development for citizens, and the creation of Geoje-type smart city models under the vision of "Global No. 1 Future Marine Smart Blue City, Geoje."
Geoje City's comprehensive plan collected and reflected various opinions through interviews with departments of Geoje City and related organizations, operation of Living Lab by citizens, operation of working-level promotion councils, and expert advisory meetings.
Geoje City's comprehensive report on "Global No. 1 Future Marine Smart Blue City, Geoje" will draw up four key projects such as △ an eco-friendly marine city that leads the world △ a clean tourist city that everyone wants to visit △ a safe city in everyday life, and △ a fun city where everyone is together. It includes about 50 smart city services, integrated operation plans for information systems in various fields currently in operation, and the establishment of a dedicated organization to create an efficient smart city.
Mayor of Geoje City, Byun Kwang-yong said, "We hope that the Geoje-type Basic Plan for Smart City will be used as basic data for Geoje City to grow into a smart city in the future and will do our best to become a representative smart city base that citizens are satisfied with."
