- The Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport named Hanyang University's "Two rounds in the town" team as the winner and awarded 80 million won in demonstration support funds - Government also held an agreement ceremony for Smart City Next Innovation Technology Demonstration Project

Hyperlocal guidance for young single-person households by Hanyang University's “two rounds in the town” team won the grand prize at the "Smart Campus Challenge College Student Idea Contest", which was held for the first time this year at Pangyo Techno Valley Startup Campus to discover and demonstrate youth ideas in the smart city field.

Hyperlocal Map for Young Single-person Households is a solution to collect and provide information on hyperlocal (focusing on narrow regional characteristics and information) data through sharing information that only residents can know.

The Excellence Award was given to △the Smart IoT system based on Kakao Talk by the "Dongyang Future University" team and △the AI-based mobility accident reporting platform of the "Sungkyunkwan University Myren" team, △the "JungAng University SBS" team's smart city-tailored subway civil service, and △the "Korea Transportation University FM" team's campus PM safety support system.

Won Hyun-jin, team leader of Hanyang University team, who won the grand prize, said, "I am happy to have an opportunity to realize and demonstrate my ideas."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also held an agreement ceremony for the "Smart City Next Innovation Technology Demonstration Project" and signed a business agreement for four technologies.

The "Smart City Next Innovation Technology Demonstration Project" is a project which provides demonstration opportunities to companies with excellent smart city innovation technologies, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport pays 200 million won each as demonstration costs and provides demonstration locations to help the demonstration process take place stably.

The four selected technologies include AR indoor navigation system (Party in Space, Municipal Nowon Youth Future Career Center), real-time road condition measurement service (MoveAWheel, Inc., Yuseong-gu, Daejeon), real-time heatwave monitoring system (Nanoweather, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do), and Internet of Things (right Inpo Tech, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul).

The four innovative technologies to be demonstrated are as follows.

▷Nanoweather and Yeongcheon City, Korea's leading heatwave risk city, will establish a data-based heatwave response policy to protect citizens from heatwave damage through the demonstration of an ultra-fine temperature real-time monitoring system.

▷Space Party Co., Ltd., along with the Seoul City Nowon Youth Future Career Center, plans to demonstrate an augmented reality indoor navigation system that provides road guidance services in the building and spread the service to a large indoor complex.

▷MoveAWheel, Inc. plans to automatically measure road conditions with a real-time road condition information sharing service in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and reduce traffic accidents caused by black ice in winter by operating snow removal systems.

▷Barun Infotech Co., Ltd. plans to collect obstacle information (stairs, jaws, dangerous facilities, etc.) on pedestrian and alleyways in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, demonstrate real-time services for the vulnerable, and use them for unmanned transportation and logistics services such as delivery robots in the future.

The growth of young people and innovative companies is essential for Korean smart cities to have global competitiveness, said Kim Bok-hwan, head of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. "We will spare no support to create an ecosystem that can continuously discover and demonstrate new ideas and new technologies."
