Ministry of Science and ICT holds ‘2021 Metaverse Recruitment On-tact Camp’ on the 15th and 16th to find human resources in computer graphics and provide high-quality jobs

The government announced on the 14th that it will drive the ‘Digital Hyper Innovation’ project include Metaverse as the first project among the five tasks of the ‘K-New Deal 2.0’, and will invest 2.6 trillion won by 2025. The goal is to expand the number of companies specialized in Metaverse from the current 21 to 150 by creating a Metaverse supporting ecosystem.

Based on the plan, the Ministry of Science and ICT is holding the non-face-to-face ‘2021 Metaverse Recruitment On-tact Camp’ from 15th to 16th to find the human resources in computer graphics who can take the lead of the Metaverse era and provide them high-quality jobs.

In this camp, participants who want to get a job need to perform tasks related to the applying area, and Metaverse computer graphics companies can directly hire talented people suitable for them by evaluating the job abilities.

In addition, there will be a Q&A session about recruitment fields and companies with a special lecture session on employment to strengthen the professional capability of the job seekers, separate from the recruitment process. The grand prize (Minister of Science and ICT prize) and the excellence award (National IT Industry Promotion Agency Award) will be awarded to excellent tasks in each field.

Considering the recent rise of Metaverse based on computer graphics technology, the camp has added 2D, 3D, visual effects(VFX), and game engine fields to computer graphics, and expanded to a total of eight fields.

Meanwhile, a total of 8 companies related to Metaverse computer graphics are participating in this year’s camp. Wysiwig Studios, which took part in the production of Space Sweepers, a movie that ranked 1st immediately after the release on Netflix, joined the camp. Locus, which produced Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs, the first feature-length animation nominated for an Academy Award, was one of the participating companies. In addition, companies such as Newto, Space Elvis, Westworld, Cocoavision, Clicked and Superbean also participated.

A total of 50 job seekers were selected from the 100 people who applied for the open recruitment for about 3 weeks from June 15 to July 4, after reviewing the applications form and portfolios.

The Ministry of Science and ICT will provide participants with job information such as recruitment briefing and counseling sessions after the camp and will continue to support them so that the camp will not be a one-time event but will contribute to actual talent search and job creation for youth.

“We will make further efforts to train young talents and support specialized companies so that they can become a foothold for the activation of Metaverse service and the growth of the industry,” said Jeong-sam Kim, the software policy officer of the Ministry of Science and ICT.
