The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it will finalize the "2022 Comprehensive Implementation Plan for R&D Projects in Science and Technology and ICT" that invests a total of 6.42 trillion won and promote the project in earnest.
The comprehensive implementation plan support budget is 5.491 trillion won in the R&D budget in the △ science and technology sector and 1.3736 trillion won in the R&D budget in the △ ICT sector, up about 11.6% from the previous year (5.7511 trillion won).
In detail, it consists of △ Basic Research (2 trillion won), △ Source Research (3.3 trillion won), △ Performance Utilization and Commercialization (365.4 billion won), △ Human Resources Development (299.1 billion won), and △ Foundation Creation (459.7 billion won).
The Ministry of Science and ICT has decided to set 11 key investment directions in the three major areas and provide a total R&D budget of 6.4227 trillion won to accelerate the digital transformation into a future technology powerhouse at a time when competition for technology hegemony intensifies and technology is accelerating.
In order to secure core technologies necessary to realize carbon neutrality, such as carbon resource conversion and secondary batteries, 15 billion won will be provided for the development of △stage leap forward type carbon neutrality technology and 9 billion won for △CCU 3050, and R&D support for key areas that will drive innovative growth.
At the same time, the company decided to secure core space technology by providing 172.7 billion won to advance projectiles and 7.3 billion won to develop a Korean satellite navigation system (KPS).
In addition, it plans to provide 167.8 billion won in new support to R&D to secure essential digital strategic technologies such as AI, intelligent semiconductors, 6G, and cybersecurity. By field, △ Human-centered artificial intelligence core technology development (new, 37.1 billion won), △6G core technology development (30.7 billion won), and △PIM artificial intelligence semiconductor core technology development (new, 21 billion won).
The Ministry of Science and ICT also decided to strengthen fostering ICT startups that will lead the digital transformation by expanding support for ICT startups based on public-private cooperation and fostering media-specific companies.
To this end, if large companies support ICT startups based on public-private cooperation (mentoring and sales support, the government plans to support R&D support, 8 billion won in 2022), and develop media pallet market value creation technology (3 billion won in 2022).
In particular, the government will expand support for researcher-centered basic research to 2.01 trillion won, up 11.8% from the previous year, and strengthen research capabilities such as training experts in promising fields and regional R&D innovation.
8.6 billion won will be provided in the system semiconductor sector, 70.5 billion won in the quantum sector, 90.5 billion won in the space sector, 2 billion won in AI graduate schools (10 new / university (school), and 8.25 billion won in AI convergence innovation talent training (support 5 new tasks in 22) and "Science and Technology Projects Opening the Future of the region."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced the promotion schedule for each project as of January 3 and will explain the details, timing, and procedure of the project contest through a joint briefing session of government R&D project departments online on January 25.
