The Seoul Metropolitan Government has launched a service by putting more than 70 cafes and restaurants that do not dispose of any waste, in the Smart Seoul Map.
Location information of "Zero Waste" stores such as cafes, restaurants, refill shops, and eco-friendly daily necessities stores, which are taking the lead in minimizing the use of disposable goods and packaging materials, selling products in subdivisions and refills, will be provided through digital maps of Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government launched the first digital map service of zero-waste stores in order to relieve the inconvenience of citizens interested in eco-friendly consumption or environmental pollution information on portals and make it easier to find and use zero-waste stores in the neighborhood.
Citizens who are interested in eco-friendly consumption can check the location of the desired type of stores, such as cafes, restaurants, refill shops, and eco-friendly daily necessities stores, by selecting the Zero West icon right on the first screen of Smart Seoul Map.
In addition, if you click on each store icon, you can check additional information such as store name, contact information, homepage, and SNS account, and if you click View details, you can see operating hours, sales items, and zero-waste practices in detail. The Café which provides discounts for the multi-use cup holders are also can be searched as well.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue to update the list of Zero Waste stores in the "Smart Seoul Map". New registration of Zero Waste stores or modification of existing store information can be applied online at the Seoul Environmental Education Portal (https://ecoedu.seoul.go.kr/).
Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is also preparing a "Zero Waste Store Certification System" to promote waste reduction. It plans to set certification standards by February next year and provide Zero Waste signs to stores that have passed the standards from the first half of next year, and actively provide administrative support such as publicity through official SNS in Seoul.
“We hope that eco-friendly consumption will be actively carried out through information on Zero Waste stores registered on the Smart Seoul Map”, said Jung Mi-sun, head of the Seoul Resource Circulation Division. "We will manage and support the map service to increase the number of stores that want to practice Zero Waste in everyday life and to provide useful information to citizens," she said.
